Mauri Flores posted a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals Tuesday night as her Clarkton School of Discovery Lady Blue Devils clinched the Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls soccer championship with a 4-1 victory over Bladenboro.
Teammate Sophia Masaid opened the Clarkton scoring in the tenth minute of play turning an assist from Flores into a goal. Later in the half, the two reversed roles with Masaid sending a pass to Flores who belted in the goal for a 2-0 CSD lead.
Flores banged in an unassisted goal later in the half as the lead grew to 3-0. Lainey Autry answered for the Lady Bulldogs as she smacked in a goal off of an assist from Kaden Thurman.
The Masaid-to-Flores connection worked again in the second half as Flores completed her ‘Hat Trick’ with a goal courtesy of Masaid’s second assist of the game.
Coach Jordan Mazur’s Lady Blue Devils wrapped up the Bladen Five title with a 5-0 record. Second-place Bladenboro is now 3-2 on the season.
