WHITEVILLE – Clarkton School of Discovery defeated Williams Township 3-1 in the penalty kick shootout Monday after the 2 teams had battled to a 4-4 tie in regulation play in Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ soccer action.
Montierra Richardson fired in a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals to lead the Lady Blue Devil scoring. Teammate Ellie Kinlaw drilled in 2 goals, and Rahniya McLean and Lexie Ventura scored 1 goal each for the winners.
Coach Elizabeth Priest’s Lady Blue Devils have won 3 of their last 4 games including victories over the league leaders in the Waccamaw’s A Division (Williams Township) and AA Division (Tar Heel).
“Oh Wow!! I didn’t even know that,” exclaimed Priest. “Only 4 of my players have ever played before.”
Clarkton finishes the season with a 3-6 overall record.
