ELIZABETHTOWN – Brooke Priest and Jazmy Funez scored goals Thursday to lead Tar Heel to a 2-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls soccer victory over Williams Township at Bladen County Park.
Priest put the Lady Panthers ahead with a goal early in the first half. Williams tied the game on a penalty kick just before halftime. Funez sent in a deep goal for the game-winner late in the second half.
“With limited practice time early in the season, we got off to a rocky start,” said Tar Heel Coach Brett Jackson. “But the girls have played better and better every game. They are quickly building confidence and playing to their full potential. We had a huge win today and I am extremely proud of these girls.”
