Garrett Melvin and Gabe Barber posted ‘Hat Tricks’ of 3 goals each to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 10-2 Bladen Five Middle School Conference soccer victory over East Arcadia Tuesday night at County Park.
Melvin fired in back-to-back goals in the first two minutes of play. In the tenth minute teammate Jackson Bostic scored to put the Blue Devils ahead 3-0.
Barber blasted in a goal on a free kick 3 minutes later, and in the 23rd minute, Melvin completed his ‘Hat Trick’ with his third goal that put CSD ahead 5-0.
East Arcadia’s Charles answered with a goal a minute later to make the score 5-1 at halftime.
Barber tallied his second goal in the first minute of the second half, and a minute later, Greyson Martin’s assist led to a goal by Jay McGill that stretched the lead to 7-1.
In the 16th minute, Andrew Cahn knocked in a goal for the Blue Devils, and 3 minutes later, Barber recorded his ‘Hat Trick’ with his third goal of the night.
A minute later McGill extended the Clarkton lead to 10-1 with his second goal of the game. Charles scored again for East Arcadia to trim the margin to 10-2.
The Blue Devils improved to 5-1 on the season and will play Bladen Five co-leader Tar Heel Thursday at 5 p. m. East Arcadia has an open date Thursday.
