A ten-run, third-inning rally propelled Bladenboro to an 18-12 Bladen Five Middle School Conference softball victory over visiting Elizabethtown Wednesday.

The Lady Cougars had trimmed a 7-3 Lady Bulldog lead to 7-6, before the 10-run explosion stretched the margin to 17-6.

Catcher Kasee Singletary slammed 2 hits and scored 3 runs to lead the Bladenboro hitters. Katie Guyton, Erica Storms, Ashley Hickman, Kayla Dowless, Callie Lewis, Rayna Bryan and Blair Lee all connected for one hit each as the winners pounded out 9 hits.

Teammate Jada Lofton walked twice and scored 3 times, and Lee also scored 3 runs. Storms, Hickman, Dowless and Lewis all scored 2 runs each. Bryan tallied one run for the Lady Bulldogs.

Dowless pitched all 5 innings and struck out four batters.

Jatyra Moore-Peterson and Olivia smacked 3 hits each and scored 3 runs each to lead the Lady Cougar hitters. Zy’Asia Monroe and Denisha belted 2 hits each and scored 2 runs each.

Natalie Gainey, Shanell McMillian, Trinity and LeeLee added one hit each to the 14-hit Cougar attack. Trinity also scored 2 runs.

Bladenboro improves to 2-1 in the Bladen Five, while Elizabethtown is now 1-2.
