TAR HEEL – Bladenboro completed an undefeated 6-0 season Thursday with an 18-0 Bladen Five Middle School softball victory over Tar Heel.
Rylee Chadwick and McKenzie Singletary combined to pitch a one-hitter for Bladenboro. Chadwick struck out all six batters that she faced in the first two innings. Singletary allowed one hit, no walks and struck out two in her 3 innings in the circle.
Briley Stanley belted a third-inning single for the only Tar Heel hit.
Megan Pait reached base on an error to lead off the game and stole second and third base. Whitney McLean walked, and Kolee Wilkins reached base on an error as Pait and McLean scored.
Emmee Ward smacked a single, and Wilkins scored on a wild pitch. Chadwick lined a single that scored Ward, and Chadwick dashed home on a passed ball for a 5-0 Bladenboro lead.
Wilkins slammed a double to start the Lady Bulldog second inning. Wilkins scooted home on a wild pitch, and Chadwick ripped a single. Lauren Pait’s fielder’s choice scored Chadwick for a 7-0 lead.
Taylor Lewis led off the Bladenboro third with a single, and McLean knocked her in with a single. Ward reached base on an error that scored McLean. Singletary and Savannah Turbeville smashed singles with Turbeville’s hit scoring Ward to push the lead to 10-0.
Lauren Pait reached base on an error to begin the Bladenboro fourth inning. Hannah Pait hammered a double that scored Lauren Pait. Lewis reached base on an error that scored Hannah Pait.
Megan Pait forced Lewis at second, before Lainey Autry connected for a single that scored Megan Pait and pushed the Bladenboro lead to 13-0.
Turbeville cracked a single to start the Lady Bulldog fifth. Lauren Pait reached base on a fielder’s choice, and Hannah Pait walked. Lewis laced a single that scored Turbeville, and Megan Pait drew a walk that forced home Lauren Pait.
Autry’s fielder’s choice plated Hannah Pait, and Kaden Thurman was hit by a pitch to force home Lewis. Megan West’s fielder’s choice scored Megan Pait with the final Bladenboro run.
Turbeville led the Bladenboro attack batting 3-4 with a run scored. Chadwick batted 2-2 with a run batted in. Wilkins and Hannah Pait walloped doubles, and McLean, Autry, Ward, West, and Singletary connected for one hit each.
Megan Pait scored 3 runs, and McLean, Wilkins, Ward, Lauren Pait and Hannah Pait score 2 runs each. Singletary scored one run. Autry drove in 2 runs, and McLean, Thurman and West drove in one run each.
