TAR HEEL – Bladenboro defeated Tar Heel 24-12 Monday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action.

Lainey Autry and Kolee Wilkins sandwiched singles around a walk to McKenzie Singletary in the Bladenboro first inning. All three of them scored as the Lady Bulldogs grabbed a 3-0 lead.

In the Bladenboro second inning, Rylee Chadwick, Lainey Autry, Megan Pait and Whitney McLean belted singles, and Mallory Bryan, Kaden Thurman and Singletary drew walks. Makayla Wright and Megan West were both hit by pitches. West, Bryan, Chadwick, Autry, Singletary, McLean, Thurman and Wright scored runs in the inning to push the Lady Bulldog lead to 11-0.

In the Tar Heel half of the inning, Molly Pait and Harmony Jacobs were hit by pitches, Violet Allen walked, and Madilyn Brisson reached base on an error. All of them scored to trim the Bladenboro lead to 11-4.

Marlie Walters hammered a double in the Lady Bulldog third inning, and Singletary and Brook Singletary smacked singles. Holland Davis, Thurman, and Megan Pait drew walks, and Marlie Crabtree was hit by a pitch. McKenzie Singletary, Walters, Davis, Thurman and Crabtree all scored in the inning to boost the lead to 16-4.

Gracie Faircloth led off the Lady Panther third with a single, and Molly Pait, Madilyn Brisson and Jacobs drew walks. Madison Priest was hit by a pitch. Faircloth and Molly Pait both scored to whittle the lead to 16-6.

Bladenboro added 8 runs in the fourth inning. Lainey Autry and McKenzie Singletary ripped doubles to start the inning. Kallie Bass, Autry, McKenzie Singletary and Walters belted singles, and Walters and Thurman were hit by pitches.

Davis drew two walks in the inning, and Megan Pait walked. Autry scored twice in the inning, and McKenzie Singletary, Walters, Davis, Thurman, Bass and Megan Pait all scored runs to stretch the lead to 24-6.

Brooke Priest led off the Lady Panther fourth with a single, and Faircloth and Kennedy Carroll reached base on errors. Molly Pait, Madison Priest and Kaitlynn Brisson drew walks, and Allen, Jacobs and Faircloth were all hit by pitches. Brooke Priest, Faircloth, Molly Pait, Carroll, Allen and Jacobs all scored runs.

McKenzie Singletary batted a perfect 3-3 with a double and 4 runs scored to lead the Bladenboro hitters. Walters finished 2-2 at the plate with a double and 2 runs scored. Autry batted 3-5 with a double and 4 runs scored. Chadwick, Kolee Wilkins, McLean, Bass, West, Crabtree and Brook Singletary added one hit each.

Thurman scored 3 runs, and Davis scored 2 runs. Chadwick, Megan Pait, Wilkins, McLean, Bass, Wright, West, Crabtree, Brook Singletary and Bryan scored one run each.
Chadwick pitched a 1-2-3 first inning and struck out one batter. Megan Pait pitched the final 3 innings and struck out four batters.

Faircloth smashed a double and finished with 2 hits and 2 runs scored to lead Tar Heel. Teammate Brooke Priest singled and scored a run. Molly Pait scored 3 runs, and Allen and Jacobs and Allen scored 2 runs each. Carroll and Madilyn Brisson scored runs.

Coach Steve Thurman’s Lady Bulldogs improved to 6-4 in the Waccamaw’s AA Division and 6-5 overall. Tar Heel will travel to Elizabethtown Thursday.
