TAR HEEL –Karli Priest pitched a perfect game and struck out six to lead the Clarkton School of Discovery Lady Blue Devils to a 19-0 Bladen Five Middle School Conference victory over Tar Heel Tuesday.
Priest retired all nine batters that she faced in the three inning game.
Addie Bowen and Priest drew walks to start the Clarkton first inning, and Mariah Smith and Shy’Asia Ratliff reached base on errors. Lena Trinidad reached base on a passed third strike.
Emma Turbeville and Cydney Campbell drew walks, and AnnaGrey Heustess and Maegan Burney reached base on errors. Bowen delivered a 2-run single for the first Clarkton hit, and Priest hammered a 2-run double. Smith slammed a double that scored Priest as the first 11 Clarkton batters scored.
Burney, Campbell and Bowen reached base on errors and scored Lady Blue Devil runs in the second inning.
Maddie Taylor walked, and Sophia Masaid beat out an infield hit to start the Clarkton third inning. Heustess and Dyiamon Robinson reached base on errors, and Ashlyn Williams walked. All five of them scored in the inning. Molly Evans doubled home two runs in the inning.
Priest, Smith and Evans smashed doubles to lead the Clarkton hitters. Bowen, Ratliff and Masaid added one hit each. Bowen, Priest and Evans drove in 2 runs each, and Smith drove in one.
Bowen scored 3 runs, and Priest, Heustess, Burney and Campbell scored 2 runs each. Smith, Ratliff, Taylor, Turbeville, Masaid, Burney, Trinidad, Williams and Robinson scored one run each.
