Lauren Bowen pitched a no-hitter and slugged a home run to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 21-0 Bladen Five Middle School Conference softball victory at Bladenboro Thursday.
Bowen struck out 7 and walked 4 in her 3 innings in the circle. The game was halted by the mercy rule after 3 innings.
Johanna Parker and Alayna Weeks connected for 2 hits each during a 12-run Clarkton first inning. Teammates Alyssa Futrell, Bowen, Izzy Smith, Abbie Cross and Cybil Campbell smacked one hit each in the first inning.
A Smith single and 7 walks produced 7 more Lady Blue Devil runs in the second inning. Bowen walloped her 2-run homer in the third inning after QuaDasia Monroe walked.
Bowen finished 2-2 at the plate with the home run and 3 runs scored. Parker and Smith both batted 2-2 and scored 3 runs each. Weeks batted 2-3 and scored 3 runs.
Campbell, Futrell and Cross connected for one hit each and scored 2 runs each. Monroe and Khadijah Jones scored 2 runs each, and Lila McDuffie scored one run.
The Lady Blue Devils will host Elizabethtown Tuesday, while Bladenboro will entertain Tar Heel Tuesday.
