Clarkton School of Discovery
 TAR HEEL – Clarkton School of Discovery defeated Tar Heel 30-0 Wednesday in Bladen Five Middle School Conference softball action.
 
Lauren Bowen pitched a 3-inning 2-hitter to pick up the victory for Clarkton. Bowen struck out 6, walked 3 and hit a batter.
 
Bowen slugged a 2-run home run and a double and finished 5-5 at the plate with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Teammate Katie Evans batted 3-3 with 3 runs scored.
 
Adrienne Howell turned in a 3-3 day at the plate for CSD with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Lila McDuffie batted 3-3 and scored 3 runs. Catcher Alayna Weeks slammed a bases-loaded double and a triple and finished 2-2 at the plate with 4 rbi’s and 3 runs scored.
 
Lorna Mendell smashed a double and scored 3 runs for Clarkton. Teammate Abbie Cross knocked in 3 runs with a bases-loaded triple. Jordan Kinlaw drove in a run with a single and scored one. Tara Rogers belted a single and scored 2 runs.
 
Khadijah Jones drove in a Blue Devil run with a single. Teammates Gracyn Martin and Cybil Campbell scored 3 runs each. QuaDasia Monroe, Alyssa Futrell and Johanna Futrell scored one run each.
 
Bowen drilled the 2-run homer to right-centerfield, and Weeks swatted the bases-loaded double to highlight the 16-run Clarkton first inning. Howell, McDuffie, Evans, and Bowen connected for 2 hits each in the inning.
 
Weeks clubbed the triple, and Mendell smacked the double in the Lady Blue Devils’ 8-run second inning. Cross cleared the bases with a 3-run triple to cap the winners’ 6-run third.
 
Victory Crawford batted a perfect 2-2 to account for both Tar Heel hits.
 
The Lady Blue Devils improved to 3-1 with the victory.
