Elizabethtown Middle SchoolKayleigh Raynor pitched a 3-inning no-hitter to lead Elizabethtown to a 16-0 softball victory over Bladenboro Thursday that clinched a share of the Bladen Five Middle School Conference championship.
Coach Tarrah Woodruff’s Lady Cougars finished league play with a 5-1 record and tied Clarkton School of Discovery for the conference title. Bladenboro completed the season with a 2-4 record.
Katie Guyton drew a 2-out walk in the third inning to account for the only Lady Bulldog base-runner. Raynor struck out 4 and retired 9 of the 10 batters that she faced.
Taylor West and Guyton shared the pitching duties for Bladenboro.
Abigail Madden batted 2-2, drove in 2 runs and scored a run for the Lady Cougars. Raynor finished 2-4 at the plate, drove in a run and scored 2 runs.
Shanell McMillian, Kenia Leal and Chasity Carter connected for one hit each for Elizabethtown. Carter and McMillian drove in 2 runs each, and Leal drove in one.
McMillian scored 3 runs, and Tinyauh Rhoda, Leal and Alyssa Suggs scored 2 runs each. Cheylee Mathis, Katlynn Tatum, Carter and Abbie Collins scored one run each.
Raynor and Kenia Leal belted run-scoring singles in Elizabethtown’s 8-run first inning, and Carter knocked in 2 runs with a single. Madden beat out an infield hit to drive in a run.
Raynor led off the second inning with a single to left, and the Lady Eagles added 5 runs on 3 hit batters, 2 walks and an error.
McMillian yanked a 2-run single to left in the Elizabethtown third, and Madden beat out an infield hit as the Lady Cougars turned 3 hit batters and 2 walks into 3 more runs for the final margin.
