Elizabethtown Middle SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – Kayleigh Raynor pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 9 batters to lead Elizabethtown to a 16-2 Bladen Five Middle School Conference victory Wednesday over Bladenboro.

Raynor hit 4 batters and walked two. At the plate she slugged a 2-run homer and a double, drove in 4 runs and scored three. Teammate Cheylee Mathis walloped a double, drove in a run and scored three.

Shanell McMillian and Alyssa Suggs scored 2 runs each for the Lady Cougars. Abigail Madden, Abbie Collins, Trinity Stephens, Chasity Carter, Tinyauh Rhoda and Katlynn Tatum scored one run each.

Taylor West allowed only 3 hits and struck out two for Bladenboro. West belted a single and scored the first Lady Bulldog run in the third inning. Erica Storms scored the other Bladenboro run, and Lauren had the other Lady Bulldog hit.

After Bladenboro catcher Kasee Singletary threw out 2 baserunners attempting to steal in the first inning, Mathis slammed the double and scored ahead of Raynor’s home run to deep left.

The Lady Cougars tacked on 6 more runs in the second. Raynor’s 2-run single to centerfield highlighted the inning. Elizabethtown added 5 runs in the third, 2 in the fourth and one in the fifth.

Coach Tarrah Woodruff’s Lady Cougars remained unbeaten at 4-0 in the Bladen Five.
