TAR HEEL – Gracey Edwards pitched a 4-hitter and slugged a grand slam home run to lead Tar Heel to a 14-3 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Elizabethtown Thursday in the season finale for both teams.
Edwards struck out 6 batters and walked three to pick up the victory. At the plate she blasted a grand slam home run to cap the Lady Panthers 10-run, 1st inning rally.
Teammate Carrie Jones walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored 3 runs. Jamaiya Ballard drew 2 walks, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Jahyrah Priest was hit by pitches twice, walked and scored a run.
Alajeh McMillian walked, was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Abigail Dew walked twice and scored twice. Everlee Nance walked was hit by a pitch and scored twice. Edwards also walked and scored a run.
Ariel Cromartie batted 2-for-2 and scored a run to lead the Lady Cougars. Niyah Wooten belted a single, walked and scored. Hailey Bennett cracked a single and drove in a run. A’Nida McKibben walked and scored a run.
