CLARKTON – Gracey Edwards struck out 12 batters Tuesday, and her Tar Heel Lady Panthers built leads of 10-1 and 13-5 before holding on for a 15-12 victory over Clarkton School of Discovery in a softball scrimmage.
Edwards, Carrie Jones, Jamaiya Ballard, Jahyrah Priest, Alajeh McMillian, Ava Bordeaux and Abigail Dew all scored 2 runs each for Tar Heel. Teammate Everlee Nance scored 1 run.
Nevaeh Brown scored 4 runs for the Lady Blue Devils. Pitcher Cabria Baldwin scored 3 runs, and Zy’Eria Ripley scored 2 runs for CSD. Brenna Hester, Jahniya Reed, Nadya Colon and Rahniya M. scored 1 run each for Clarkton.
Clarkton School of Discovery will host Tabor City Wednesday, while Tar Heel will entertain East Columbus Wednesday.
