CERRO GORDO – West Columbus scored 11 runs in the 1st inning enroute to a 23-7 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Tar Heel Wednesday. Demya Powell pitched a no-hitter for the Lady Warriors but walked 15 batters.
Uriah Wright walked 3 times and scored 2 runs to lead the Lady Panthers. Teammates Carrie Jones, Alajeh McMillian, Abigail Dew, Sherrell McKoy and Serenity Council drew 2 walks each. Je’Leah Purdie and Giselle Lara walked 1 time each.
Jones, McMillian, Dew, McKoy and Purdie scored 1 run each. Dew handled the pitching duties for Tar Heel.
The Lady Panthers will travel to East Columbus Monday.
