Minor flooding is expected along the Cape Fear River in Bladen County because of recent rains.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued flood warnings through Saturday morning for the Cape Fear River at William O. Huske Lock and Dam No. 3 near the Bladen/Cumberland County line and for Lock and Dam No. 2 in Elizabethtown.

Minor flooding already is happening at Huske Lock and Dam. At 9 a.m. Wednesday, the river stage was 44.8 feet, the National Weather Service reports. Flood stage is 42 feet. The river is expected to crest at 46.7 feet by Thursday afternoon before falling below flood stage Friday night.

At Elizabethtown Lock and Dam No. 2, the river was measured at 21.2 feet at 7 a.m. Wednesday. Flood stage is 25 feet. The river is expected to reach flood stage early Thursday afternoon and crest at 25.8 feet about 1 a.m. Friday before falling below flood stage in the early morning hours of Saturday.

Bladen Online’s rain gauge has measured 1.6 inches in the past three days.
