It is official; history will be made in June, 2015. The Miss Bladenboro Scholarship Pageant is now a festival pageant for the Miss North Carolina, Miss America Organization!!
Miss Bladenboro, Lindsey Herring, will be competing for the Miss North Carolina title in Raleigh this coming June. John and Karen Ruffin, Executive Directors of the Miss Bladenboro Scholarship pageant, made the exciting announcement on Wednesday this week. Mrs. Karen Ruffin said, “It was our goal five years ago to make our pageant a preliminary to Miss North Carolina. We shared this dream with our dear friend Hiram Hester. We dedicate our first time on the Miss North Carolina stage in honor and memory of him.”
Miss Bladenboro, Lindsay Sue Herring said, “I am beyond excited and grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to represent the town of Bladenboro at Miss North Carolina. I am excited to share my platform on anti-bullying with the local schools and across multiple communities!”
This is proof that hard work and dedication pay off. Ruffin said,“ Lindsey will be making history as the first Miss Bladenboro to grace the Miss North Carolina stage. Bladen County has not had a representative since the earlier 1980’s, at the Miss North Carolina pageant.” She continued, “My husband, John is as actively involved in the pageant as I am. He is co-executive director and has been with me every single step of the way. He has a lot of pride in our girls (the Miss Bladenboro Court) and when I am unable to attend an event, he is there to make sure they have everything they need. I am a homeschool teacher, Mom, and wife, add full time pageant director to that, and you will see that my life is busy and can be quite hectic at times, but John keeps me going. I could not, nor would I want to do this without him.”
“We are proud of our community and all of our Miss Bladenboro representatives. We are looking forward to working with the Miss North Carolina Organization and cannot wait to see our girl on that big stage!” More information is still to come about this very exciting announcement.
