CURRIE — Members of the Cape Fear Revolutionary War Round Table donated $500 to Moores Creek National Battlefield. The recent donation will help the park develop new exhibits that will highlight important stories about the battle.

The Cape Fear Revolutionary Round Table (CFRWRT) is a group of men and women united by a common interest in the Revolutionary War era with an emphasis on Southeastern North Carolina.

CFRWRT’s donation will lead to increased awareness and appreciation of the park, the battle, and its significance, according to a news release from Moores Creek National Battlefield. In addition, the projects will directly support visitor enjoyment, interpretation, and education of the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge.

The battle for Moores Creek Bridge took place in the early morning hours of February 27, 1776 when a group of Loyalists charged across a partially dismantled bridge as nearly 1,000 North Carolia Patriots waited quietly with cannons and muskets poised to fire..
