Currie, NC– On Saturday October 19, from 6:00 pm – 9:30 pm, Moores Creek National Battlefield will be holding a “Movie in the Park” event. Park staff and volunteers will show “The Patriot.”
The film, set in the American South during the Revolutionary War, vividly portrays the intense and brutal fighting between Loyalists and Patriots. It effectively captures the sentiments and animosities of both sides, like those experienced by combatants at the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge.
The Patriot offers viewers a profound understanding of the mutual hostility and fierce fighting that characterized this period. Park Ranger Jason Howell will lead a program prior to the showing of the film discussing fact and fiction in the film. This part of the program will be held in Patriots Hall from 6:00pm to 6:30pm. The movie will start at 6:30pm right outside in Patriots’ Hall Field.
Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket and refreshments. Alcohol is not permitted!
The event will conclude around 9:30pm.
Come on out and join us for this special Movie in the Park event! The event is FREE and OPEN to the public. For a full listing of event details, please stay connected to us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/moorescreeknps or visit our website at www.nps.gov/mocr.
