With her mother, Amy, and her coaches and teammates in attendance, West Bladen senior Morgan Schumacher committed Friday to play her college volleyball at Life University in Marietta, GA.

Schumacher had received interest from Texas Tech, Methodist, North Carolina Wesleyan, Hollins University and Bridgewater College among others but settled on Life, a NAIA Division II school that posted a 20-12 record last season and competes in the Mid-South Conference.

Schumacher plans to major in chiropractic studies, and Life’s chiropractic program is highly regarded and a good fit for her.

At West Bladen Schumacher was an All-Four County Conference performer who led the Lady Knights to a 10-10 record and into the 2016 NCHSAA Class 2A play-offs.

The 5-9 middle hitter led the Lady Knights with 147 kills, fired in 33 aces and totaled 13 blocks.

‘Morgan is a very dedicated and hard working player that loves the game,” said West Bladen Coach Gaye Davis. “She will do great at Life and will be an asset. I will definitely miss her next year.”
