There was a large crowd out this weekend for mountain biking at Browns Creek Bike Trail & Nature Park in Elizabethtown. The North Carolina Interscholastic Cycling League held their first race for the 2019 season at the local park on Sunday, March 10.

The NC Interscholastic event drew about 450 mountain bike participants, according to the race officials.

Town of Elizabethtown Manager, Eddie Madden, was excited about the race and expressed his gratitude. He said in a social media post, “Thank you NC Interscholastic mountain bike participants and especially to Greg Brinson and the rest of the Cape Fear SORBA volunteers!”

Cape Fear SORBA volunteers have worked many hours helping to build the bike trails at the park since 2015. The park has been drawing crowds of bike and nature enthusiasts to the area ever since.

Brown’s Creek Nature Park and Bike Trail is located across from the airport in Elizabethtown, NC, just off of NC Highway 87 at 1910 East Broad Street and is open seven days a week from daylight to dusk.
