Despicable Me 2 Jpeg(WHITEVILLE, N.C.) — The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville and the Columbus County Arts Council have partnered to bring you “Movies on Madison: Summer Cinema Series.” Kicking off the series is Universal Picture’s “Despicable Me 2,” showing Friday, June 17 at dusk. This film follows Gru, his adorable girls, the mischievous Minions and a cast of unforgettable new characters in this laugh-out-loud blockbuster sequel to “Despicable Me.” Just as Gru (voiced by Steve Carrell) has gone from super-bad to super-dad, the Anti-Villain League recruits him to track down a new criminal mastermind and save the world. Partnered with secret agent Lucy Wilde (voiced by Kristen Wiig), along with the wildly unpredictable Minions, Gru must figure out how to keep his cover while also keeping up with his duties as a father.

Museum lawn opens at 8:00 p.m., movie starts at dusk.  This free, 98-minute film is rated PG. This is a family-friendly event: no pets, coolers, alcohol or smoking permitted.  Refreshments will be available for purchase.
