Larrell Murchison made his regular season debut for the NFL’s Tennessee Titans on Sunday. The East Bladen High School graduate was credited with half a tackle for loss in the second quarter.

Murchison, a defensive lineman, and David Long Jr. combined to stop Houston’s Dameon Pierce for a 1-yard loss midway through the second quarter. Long led the Titans with eight tackles, including two for loss.

Tennessee won 17-10 behind Derrick Henry, who ran for 219 yards and two touchdowns on 32 carries. The Titans were playing without starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who had missed practice during the week because of illness. Tennessee is 5-2 and in first place in the AFC South.

Murchison was activated from the practice squad on Saturday. He has been a member of Tennessee’s practice squad since late August. He played in three preseason games.

Murchison is in his third season with the Titans after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL draft out of N.C. State. He played in 21 regular-season games his first two seasons, including five starts in 2021. He also played in Tennessee’s 20-13 loss against Baltimore in a 2020 playoff game.

In his two prior seasons, Murchison was credited with 13 tackles, including five solo tackles and two tackles for loss. He also played on special teams.

Murchison was waived by Tennessee on Aug. 30 as NFL teams had to reduce rosters to the league mandated 53 players. He was signed to the team’s 16-member practice squad the next day and has been practicing with the team since.
