WINNABOW – Liam Edmonds pitched a 4-hit shutout and struck out 15 batters to lead Brunswick County to a 10-0 victory over Bladen County Tuesday that eliminated Bladen County from the 2024 North Carolina Dixie Boys State Tournament at Town Creek Park.
Bladen’s best scoring opportunity came in the 3rd inning when Delton Murdock cracked a lead-off single, and Fox Sutton followed with a single. However, Edmonds struck out the next 3 batters to end the threat.
Omar Powell, Murdock, Sutton and Chase Bryan connected for 1 hit each for Bladen County. Edmonds did not walk anyone in the game.
Noah German pitched the 1st 2 innings for Bladen County allowing 2 runs on 2 hits, a walk and a hit batter while striking out 2. Luke Bryant worked 3 innings of relief and allowed 5 runs on 4 hits, 4 walks, 3 hit batters and an error while striking out 2. Jerod Smith pitched 0.2 innings of relief and allowed 3 runs on 2 hits, a walk and a hit batter. Ryne Priest worked a scoreless 0.1 innings of relief and gave up 1 hit.
Fisher Hair led Brunswick County at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance and scored 3 runs. Wyatt Clewis was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Edmonds, Brayden McMillan, Lemuel Wooten and Grayson Dees slammed 1 double each.
