Wear Red

Wear RedThe first Friday in February is National Wear Red Day to help raise awareness of women with heart disease.  Before you leave for the day, don’t forget to put on your red! More women die of heart disease than all forms of cancer combined. 

February is American Heart Month.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention heart disease is the number one killer in America.   Although this disease is the leading cause of death, there are some ways to fight against it.

1.  Raise Awareness – Help educate others about this disease, it’s risks, and how to help prevent it.

2. Don’t smoke or use tobacco – Experts say that tobacco use is the leading cause of heart disease.

3. Exercise – Talk with your health care provider about what exercise would work best for you to help fight against heart disease.

4.  Eat healthy – Nutritionist can explain what meal plans work best for you to maintain a healthy heart.

5.  Sleep – Sleeping helps prevent a lot of health concerns.  

6.  Regular Health Screenings – High blood pressure and high cholesterol can damage your heart.  Ask your health care provider about regular health screenings.
