NC 242 North is closed for repairs due to damage sustained during Hurricane Matthew. NC Department of Transportation crews had affected temporary repairs in order to re-open the road. The closure which began on Tuesday will allow crews to make permanent repairs.
The road is closed in two locations. The first closure is just south of Sweet Home Church Road and Jones Lake State Park. Kenneth Clark, NC DOT, said the contractor will construct a reinforced concrete box culvert at the site as well as a site just north of Johnsontown Road.
A second DOT crew is expected to begin work this week at a N.C. 242 closure south of State Lula Long Road.
