The Bladen Community College Board of Trustees welcomed Mr. George
Fouts, Interim President of the North Carolina Community College System as guest speaker and participant in the BCC Spring Board Retreat on Friday, February 26.
Since Fouts retirement as Executive Vice President at Guilford Tech in 2001, he has taught as an adjunct instructor in developmental education and served as the director of the Developmental Education Initiative in North Carolina. In 2011, he was selected by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as its senior partner for Completion by Design in North Carolina and served in that capacity until 2013. During the past two years, Fouts has worked as an independent consultant to community colleges in North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and North Dakota.
In January 2015, Mr. Fouts was awarded the I.E. Ready Award by the State Board of Community College for both the breadth and depth of his enormous contributions to the System. The I.E. Ready award is the highest honor bestowed on an individual by the State Board.
