The North Carolina Council on Developmental Disabilities (NCCDD) continues its Self-Advocate Discussion Series monthly discussion series to boost the voices and messages of NC self-advocates for influencing social and systems change. The series is held on the third Wednesday of every month. Learn more about the next webinar!

March 19, 2025, from 1:00 – 2:00 PM – via Zoom – Spanish, ASL, and CART Captioning will be available.

Topic: Organized Advocacy

Join NCCDD and other advocates to talk about grassroots advocacy—where local communities come together to drive change at the local, state, and national levels.

In this session, we’ll explore different ways people can work together to make a difference. We’ll also break down technical terms – like the difference between advocacy and lobbying.

The foundation of change is personal stories. When people find common ground in their experiences, they can raise awareness and help shape policies that improve community living for I/DD.

The series is facilitated by Chris Hendricks, NCCDD Policy Education Coordinator and NCCDD members who are self-advocates.
