Members of the Bladen County Dixie Boys All-Star baseball team are:

OCEAN ISLE BEACH – Cade Allen pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 8 batters Sunday as Bladen County rolled to an 11-1 mercy rule victory over Mt. Holly in the North Carolina Dixie Boys State Tournament.

Bladen County received a 1st round bye Saturday and with Sunday’s win advanced to a 2 p.m. game Monday against Richlands.

Davion Lewis drew a 1-out walk in the Bladen 1st inning and circled the bases on a passed ball, a wild pitch and an error for a 1-0 lead.

Coley Sasser laced a single to center field in the Bladen 2nd inning. Torrean Cogdell reached base on an error, and Lewis ripped a single to center field that scored Sasser and Cogdell and pushed the Bladen lead to 3-0.

Lewis smashed a single to right field in the Bladen 4th inning and advanced on an error. Hunter Hester knocked in Lewis with a single to center field as the lead grew to 4-0.

After Mt Holly scored in the top of the 5th, Gavin Elks, Natoren Corbett and Caison Brixey drew walks to start the Bladen fifth. Elks darted home on a wild pitch, Corbett raced home on an error, and Brixey scored on a balk to stretch the Bladen lead to 7-1.

Cogdell walked, stole 2nd base, and sprinted home when Lewis smacked his 3rd hit of the day. Allen slapped a single to center field, and Isaiah Lee smoked a single to right that scored Lewis. Colton Daly drove in Lee with a single that pushed the lead to 10-1.

Brixey hammered a double to center field in the 6th inning and dashed home as Cogdell reached base on an error that ended the game on the 10-run rule.

Lewis batted a perfect 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 3 runs batted in to lead the Bladen hitters. Brixey doubled and scored 2 runs. Allen, Hester, Lee, Daly, Elks and Sasser connected for 1 hit each, Hester, Lee and Daly had 1 RBI each. Cogdell scored 2 runs, and Lee, Sasser, Elks, and Corbett scored 1 run each.
