OCEAN ISLE BEACH – Hope Mills defeated Bladen County 14-4 Monday night in the winners bracket finale of the North Carolina Dixie Boys State Tournament.
Davion Lewis, Colton Daly and Natoren Corbett smashed run-scoring singles for Bladen County. Teammates Hunter Hester and Darius Williamson belted singles and scored runs. Caison Brixey walked and scored the other Bladen run.
Gavin Elks started on the mound for Bladen County and was relieved by Lewis then Corbett.
Bladen County will play Columbus County at 4:30 Tuesday in the state tourney semifinals. Unbeaten Hope Mills will play Brunswick County Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The Bladen County, Columbus County and Brunswick County teams all have 1 loss each in the double-elimination event.
In other games Monday, Bladen County won 11-1 over Richlands, Brunswick County defeated Duplin County 13-3 and Columbus County eliminated Richlands 23-0.
