The North Carolina Department of Transportation has issued an updated list of road openings and closings for Bladen County.
OPENINGS:
Richardson Road
Richardson Road opened last week.
CLOSINGS:
Tobermory Road
Tobermory Road remains closed at NC 87 due to a failed crossline pipe / void under the road. Pipe replacement work has begun and is now expected to be complete by August 14th (encountered difficult soil conditions – causing delays in progress).
US 701 North
US 701 north remains closed at Colly Creek in order to perform a scour repair to the box culverts that were damaged during Hurricane Matthew. The location is just south of Mote Road. While local traffic will be able to use Mote Road and NC 41 for access around the work site, the official detour route will be NC 41 and NC 210 in order to keep through trucks on routes with wider lane widths. Progress had been delayed due to an unexpected utility issue under the culvert; however, grout is being poured today and the road should open on Wednesday.
Singletary Mill Pond Road
Singletary Mill Pond Road remains closed at a location 0.54 miles west of NC 131 in order to replace double crossline pipes damaged during Matthew. The road will open either late tomorrow (Tuesday) or else Wednesday morning.
UPCOMING CLOSINGS:
Murray Haywood Road
Beginning next week (8/7/17) we plan to start the first of two crossline replacements on SR 1185. The first location will be 0.51 miles east of NC 242.
ELWELL FERRY:
The Elwell Ferry is operating.
