The NC Emergency Management released the following statements regarding the flooding and evacuations in Southeastern North Carolina.

Major to moderate river flooding will continue this weekend along main stem rivers & their immediate tributaries. Also be aware of flooding & high water in low-lying areas & near creeks/streams. Most rivers are expected to crest by Sunday, then waters will slowly begin to recede.

If you evacuated during Hurricane Florence, wait until local officials have declared the area safe before returning home. Visit local governments’ websites or social media accounts for up to date info. You can also find instructions on debris removal on county sites.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation is recommending that motorists avoid traveling in the following counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, western Craven (west of U.S. 17), Cumberland, Duplin, Harnett, Hoke, southern Johnston (south of U.S. 70), Jones, Lenoir, New Hanover, Pender, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland and southern Wayne (south of U.S. 70 Business).

Road conditions are constantly changing and could quickly become unsafe due to flooding. If you must travel in these areas, use DriveNC.gov to ensure your route is safe. 

El Departamento de Transporte de Carolina del Norte (NCDOT) recomienda que los automovilistas eviten viajar en los siguientes condados: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, el oeste de Craven (al oeste de la U.S. 17), Cumberland, Duplin, Harnett, Hoke, el sur de Johnston (al sur de la U.S. 70), Jones , Lenoir, New Hanover, Pender, Robeson, Sampson, Scotland y el sur de Wayne (al sur de la U.S. Business 70).
