The annual NC Freedom rankings for 2018 have been released by Civitas Action. These ranking allows citizens to gauge where their representatives rank on important issues.

According to the rankings, NC Senator Bill Rabon, who represents Bladen County in the General Assembly is ranked 3 out of 50 with a score of 87.5. In the NC House William Brisson who represents House District 22 which includes Bladen County is ranked 12 out of 120 with a score of 90 and Brenden Jones who represents NC House District 46 is ranked 12 out of 120 with a score of 90.

“We had a relatively short list of grade-worthy bills this session, which helped enable several perfect scores,” said Civitas Action President Donald Bryson. “We are encouraged to see not only the perfect scores in our rankings but most legislators in each chamber posted scores of 80 or higher,” Bryson added.

There are a total of 13 perfect scores: 11 in the House and 2 in the Senate.

The rankings include legislative votes on three of the constitutional amendments appearing on ballots this November, as well as votes on critical issues such as the Build NC Bond Act, early voting, rural health and occupational licensure.

The Civitas NC Freedom Ranking is the only conservative rating system in North Carolina that allows the citizens of North Carolina to gauge how their state legislator votes on important bills and offers a score to better determine each member’s overall ideological stance on critical issues.

Civitas Action has been producing its annual legislative ranking since the 2008 legislative session.

Rankings dating back to the 2011 session are available on the site, with lifetime scores for legislators added as a new feature.
