New election dates have been set by the NC State Board of Elections in Raleigh for the 9th Congressional District race, the Bladen County Commissioner District 3 and the Bladen County Soil and Water District Board.

The new dates for the US Congress District 9 race will be as follows:

*Candidate filing period: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 11-15
* Primary election: May 14
*Second primary (if necessary*): September 10
*General election (if no second primary): September 10
*General election (if second primary): November 5

Former Republican candidate Mark Harris has said he will not run this time sighting health reasons. Democratic candidate Dan McCready has said he will run again.

The new election for the the Bladen County Commissioner District 3 and the Bladen County Soil and Water District Board will take place on May 14th. NC State Board of Elections Spokesman Patrick Gannon said in the case of the Bladen County Commissioner District 3 race and the Bladen County Soil and Water District race, there will be no new candidate filing period or a new primary.

“Those two races are redo races with the same candidates that ran in November,” said Gannon.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections met in Raleigh on Monday afternoon and set the dates for the new 9th Congressional District race, the Bladen County Commissioner District 3 and the Bladen County Soil and Water District Board. The State Board of Elections tabled making appointments to the Bladen County Board of Elections.

The new dates for the US Congress District 9 race will be as follows:

The new election for the the Bladen County Commissioner District 3 and the Bladen County Soil and Water District Board will take place on May 14th.

NC State Board of Elections Director Kim Strach said the timeline will give the NC State Board of Elections staff time to have staff in Bladen County to assist with oversight of the elections process.

The NC State Board of Elections opted to table making appointments to the Bladen County Board of Elections until State Board of Elections staff have been in contact with the chairmen of the Bladen County Republican Party and the Bladen County Democratic Party to see if their nominations still stand based on testimony given during the evidentiary hearing.

Bladen County Commissioner Russell Priest has said he will seek re-election once more in the Bladen County Commissioner District 3 race as well.
