The Bladen County Emergency Services Training Center, the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office, and the Bladen County Law Enforcement Officer’s Association hosted a training event today (Friday, March 24) for the regional members of the NC State Bureau of Investigation. Bladen County Sheriff Jim McVicker supports the training and participation of all allied agencies in the region.

“The ongoing working relationships among multiple agencies enhances the protection and service to the citizens of our county and the region. Additionally, bringing in personnel from outside of our county bolsters our economy and supports local businesses,” said Sgt. Gary Turlington who is with the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Specialized Training Unit.

Turlington said the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office Specialized Training Unit works with any agency that could benefit from the attendance and participation at Bladen County’s developing facility.

“We are a long way from having everything that we need, but we are steadily gaining ground and working on it. The availability of such a facility affords realistic training for our law enforcement officers and first responders, regardless of the employing agencies involved. In the world that we live in today, our officers must be better trained and prepared for the conditions that they face,” said Turlington.

He added with the opportunity to participate in force-on-force training and the benefits of this type of realistic training are incalculable.
