The North Carolina Resources Commission will hold the first of several public hearings across the state on Tuesday evening, January 6, at Bladen Community College.  The meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Among the items to be discussed is the use of hunting dogs on portions of the Bladen Lakes State Forest Game Land.  In recent years, dogs have been prohibited on the Game Land.

Another proposal is the establishment of an annual Youth Deer Hunting Day, on the fourth Saturday in September that will coincide with National Hunting and Fishing Day. Youth age 16 and under would be allowed to hunt without adult supervision in most areas.

There are over 50 proposed rule changes. Comments on most will be accepted though February 8.  The deadline for proposed changes on keeping captive deer, is January 23.
