RALEIGH – N.C. farmers interested in learning about the requirements for selling their products to Harris Teeter stores can take part in a free information session Feb. 26 in Brunswick County.

The meeting will be hosted by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at N.C. Cooperative Extension’s Brunswick County Center, 25 Referendum Drive NE in Bolivia.

“The department is committed to helping local farmers find new markets for their products,” said Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler. “This meeting will offer growers an opportunity to meet one-on-one with buyers in a setting they may not otherwise be able to experience.”

The schedule includes a morning group session, one-on-one sessions with category specialists and lunch. Mark Hilton, Harris Teeter’s vice president of produce and floral, will provide an overview of the Matthews-based retailer’s guidelines for selling to its stores. Category specialists also will be on hand to answer questions from growers.

The event is free, but registration is required by Monday, Feb. 15. For more information or to register, contact Tony Haywood, NCDA&CS retail marketing specialist, at tony.haywood@ncagr.gov or 919-707-3140.
