On Friday, December 3, 2021, Faye Boyne with the North Carolina Department of Transportation released the NCDOT update for local roads.
CLOSINGS:
NC242 will close on November 29 at 8:00 am and will remain closed thru December 9 at 5:00 pm.
For crossline repairs. The detour will be NC242 to Ruskin Road (SR1335) to Gum Shaw (SR1332) to Dowd Dairy Road (SR1324).
SR1730 Elwell Ferry Road
Elwell Ferry Road (SR1730) will close on 12/7 at 9:00 am and reopen Wednesday 12/8 at 6:00 pm so the CSX can perform an emergency repair at the rail crossing
CLOSED:
US Highway 701N
Both lanes of the North Bound US Highway 701 over the Cape Fear River are closed. Traffic will be rerouted to the Southbound lanes. The closure has a WIDE LOAD TRAFFIC RESTRICTION.
