CLINTON – Four different players scored 2 goals each, and top-seeded Clinton built a 5-0 halftime lead en route to a 9-0 victory over West Bladen in the opening round of the NCHSAA Class 2A Girls Soccer Playoffs.

Senior Ally Sutter and juniors Ava Williford, Kenzy Yang and Sophia Jackson all scored 2 goals each. Yang distributed 4 assists, and Sutter dished out 2 assists. Senior Anna Perry Sinclair scored the other Clinton goal.

Senior Eva Ayala-Martinez and sophomore Ashley Sanchez-Resendiz keyed the West defensive effort with 11 steals each. Sophomore Jazmy Funez Aranda collected 8 steals.

Junior Briana Carranza Toledo was credited with 17 saves in goal for the Lady Knights.

Freshman Anna Lovitt and sophomore Larkin Best teamed up to record the shutout in goal for the Lady Dark Horses.

West Bladen finished their season with a 7-14 record. Clinton improved to 20-0-2 and will host Research Triangle in the 2nd round.
