East Bladen’s Lady Eagles hit the road Thursday night and travel to Roanoke Rapids for a second round NCHSAA Class 2A Girls Basketball Play-off game.
  
Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles outlasted First Flight 35-31 Tuesday night as sophmore guard Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson fired in 16 points and delivered an assist to freshman Patience Ward for the clinching basket.
 
The Lady Eagles average 45 points per game and give up 33 ppg. Moore-Peterson leads East Bladen scoring 17.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
 
Junior Shardajah Brown hit 3 big shots against First Flight and adds 7.9 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Ward contributes 7.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
 
Senior Emily Scott grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked 3 shots Tuesday night and averages 7.3 rebounds and 5.4 points per game. Sophmore Ashley Hardin pulls down 6.1 rebounds per game.
 
Coach Jim Whitmire’s Lady Yellowjackets won the Northern Carolina 2A with a 13-1 league record. They lost twice to 26-1 Bertie, twice to 18-3 Northampton County and once to 17-2 Weldon. Roanoke Rapids has won 13 straight games since their only league loss to Durham School of the Arts.
 
In their play-off opener, Roanoke Rapids pounded Carrboro 74-34 Tuesday night. The Lady Yellowjackets average 53 points per game and give up 41 ppg.
 
Sophmore Anna Vann tallies 18.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.2 steals per game to lead the Roanoke offense. Five-nine senior Alizae Neville contributes 11 ppg, and sophmore Michelle Stewart adds 10 ppg.
 
Abbi Carpenter, a 5-11 sophmore, grabs a team-high 8 rebounds per game. Taylor Medlin, a 5-11 junior, adds 5 points and 6.4 rebounds per game.
