West Bladen’s Lady Knights travel to Pinetops Tuesday night to take on the SouthWest Edgecombe Lady Cougars in the opening round of the NCHSAA Class 2A Girls State Basketball Play-offs. Game time is 7 p.m.

Coach Sandra Langley’s Lady Cougars posted an 18-4 record and finished atop the Eastern Plains 2A Conference despite dropping conference games to Farmville Central and North Johnston. The other SouthWest losses were to Class 3A foes Nash Central and Wilson Fike.

The Lady Cougars average 55 points per game while allowing 38 points per game. Senior Tia Farmer leads SouthWest with a 12.7 points and 6.5 assists per game average. Senior Teliyah Owens scores 12.5 ppg.

Freshman Bailey Davis adds 9.5 ppg, and 5-10 junior Shayla Ellis contributes 7.7 points and a team-high 11 rebounds per game. Senior Jasmine Ellis adds 7 ppg.

Coach Rick Rhoda’s Lady Knights finished fourth in the Four County 2A/1A Conference with a 7-7 league record. West Bladen scores 43 points per game and gives up 47 ppg.

Senior Laikyn Pait tops the Lady Knight stats with 10.8 ppg and 7.5 rebounds per game. Senior Logan Autry contributes 7.5 points, 3.5 steals and 2.9 assists per game. Senior center Jerena Purdie scores 7.2 points and grabs 5.6 rebounds per game.
