The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has pushed the fall sports play-off schedule back due to the large number of regular season games postponed by the flooding from Hurricane Matthew.

“The logistics of moving the fall championships dates, especially this close to the events are complex; however, we must do everything in our power to do what is best for our student-athletes in the state,” said NCHSAA Commissioner Que Tucker in a press release.  “Keeping our young people safe as we try to minimize risk of injury must be paramount in our decisions.”

Among the changes approved by the NCHSAA Board of Directors, the weekly limitation on volleyball has been waived for teams in areas affected by Hurricane Matthew. The daily limitation has not been waived. Sunday practices and games are not permissible in any sport.
