CONCORD – The North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association will play with no fans on site but will allow cheerleaders to attend their events. State playoffs will be conducted in the fall but not in the spring.

In a Sunday email to High SchoolOT managing editor Nick Stevens, the NCISAA shared that cheerleaders will be allowed to attend games and that there would be a state playoff component for the teams that play their fall sports in the fall. There will be no state playoffs for the teams that delay their fall sports seasons to the spring.

“The return of fans is dependent on several factors, such as: schools growing confident with protocols, positive game/travel experiences and healthy outcomes,” said the NCISAA email to HighSchoolOT.

NCISAA plans to begin play in cross country, girls golf and girls tennis on September 8. Volleyball and boys soccer will begin play on September 14, and football games can be played beginning on September 21.
