Spread the love

By Cara Beth Lewis

On September 18th, 1993, the first Dublin Peanut Festival occurred in the Peanut Capital of North Carolina, with the goal to raise money for a gymnasium at Dublin Primary School. In the 28 years since, the Dublin Peanut Festival Committee has donated funds to many different causes and has undoubtedly positively impacted the community. According to https://www.dublinpeanutfestival.com/about, “There is one goal for all of us. The goal is to make our community and local schools stronger.”

On September 18th, 2021, the Dublin Peanut Festival returns, with the traditional parade at 10 am, followed by a day full of crafts, live music, food, games, and the Classic Cruisers Car Show at Dublin Primary School.

If you are interested in having your own booth at the Festival, the cost to participate is $50 per space for craft vendors and $175 per space for food vendors. The craft vendor size is 10×10, and the food vendor size is 20×20. Registration forms and payment for your booth are due by September 10th, 2021. If you would like to have a booth to hand out brochures, etc., you will be charged a vendor fee of $50.

The Bladen County Health Department will need all Food Vendor Applications and Fees by September 3rd, 2021. The September 13th deadline is for food vendors ONLY, not craft vendors, as they have until the day of the Festival. The address and application can be found on the Bladen County Health Department Website.

The annual Dublin Peanut Festival Scholarship Pageant is scheduled for Saturday, September 11th, one week before the Festival. The pageant has six age divisions: Tiny Miss; Little Miss; Junior Miss; Teen Miss; Miss Dublin Peanut Festival; and an Ambassador title. According to the Dublin Peanut Festival website, “For many years, the Dublin Peanut Festival Scholarship Pageant has been committed to recognizing and celebrating the educational achievements of young women, by granting a scholastic scholarship of $1,500 to the reigning Queen.”
