RALEIGH: An eighth Hurricane Matthew Housing Recovery Application Center opens today in Bladen County to provide assistance to Hurricane Matthew survivors in the surrounding area. This additional application center joins seven existing centers located in Bertie, Columbus, Cumberland, Edgecombe, Lenoir, Robeson and Wayne counties. The Bladen County Application Center is located at 5853 US 701 North, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.

Application Centers are open to help Hurricane Matthew survivors complete their ReBuild NC program application for disaster recovery assistance. ReBuild NC, North Carolina’s Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program, provides funding to applicants for housing repairs, homeowner reimbursement and other housing-related issues.

How to Apply for Help

The first step in the process is calling 2-1-1 to schedule an appointment at an application center. More information on locations and hours of operation can be found online at https://www.rebuild.nc.gov/application-centers. During the appointment, housing specialists are available to aid impacted citizens with completing and submitting a program application. On average, applications take about two hours to complete. For a checklist of documents to bring and more information on the application process, visit www.rebuild.nc.gov/apply

People who have already applied for the CDBG-DR program do not need to reapply, although they may check on the status of their application by calling 2-1-1. People who have been accepted into the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) do not need to reapply.
