Spread the love

Elizabeth West is the artist behind the colorful cow painting covering an entire wall inside Over Yonder Coffee, Teas, and Creamery. The picture was commissioned by Amanda West, who gave Elizabeth a few pointers as to what she wanted but left the rest to Elizabeth’s artful creativity.

Elizabeth said that she drew many sketches before starting this large piece. Finally, she came up with the perfect sketch and got to work. As Elizabeth painted, she shared with BladenOnline that the colorful ice cream inspired her in the freezer beside her. She even included the most popular ice cream flavor that she noticed among children and depicted it in the painting by making them the cow’s flavors of choice. “A lot of the kids got excited about it,” Elizabeth stated.

When asked about the process of painting this colorful, ice cream-eating cow, she said, “I used mostly just brushes, but when it came to the texture and pattern of the cow, I dropped the brushes and used my hands. Finger painting is still as fun as it was when I was a kid!”

This major project took the young artist approximately three weeks to complete.
You can stop in and see it for yourself in Bladenboro’s only ice cream shop, Over Yonder. You can check out more of Elizabeth’s art on her Instagram, @e_west.art.

Over Yonder is located at 114 W. Seaboard St. in Bladenboro.
