New Kings Drone Summer Camp & Backpack Giveaway

Today marks a new summer camp focused on STEM (Science Technology Engineering Technology), and attempting to make it fun for all kids.

The new STEM camp is planned and hosted by Future Kings, a program based in Northern Virginia and dedicated to making STEM fun for kids and trying to get them interested in programs that may be considered boring to some students.

The camp’s primary focus is to show children how to make drones and build them using 3D printers and programming software, along with learning the laws of operating and making drones.

In response to being asked what the program’s goal was, Financial Advisor Hiram Smith responded, “The overall goal of the camp is to educate them in STEM fields and show them how fun it can be by showing them something they can build and fly.”

This week the camp will last from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM and will be hosted at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at 1604 White Plains Church Road in Clarkton, NC. Although the registration for the camp has ended, the program plans to bring it back for next year.

Smith also mentioned a backpack giveaway extravaganza will be held on Saturday, August 6th, 2022. Volunteers will give backpacks to students until the supply runs out. The giveaway will include food, fun, and games and will also be at 1604 White Plains Church Road in Clarkton, NC. It will last from 10 AM – 1 PM.
