Bladen-County-Board-of-ElectionsThe recount for the 9th Congressional District Republican Primary Race is underway. In Bladen County, the recount was conducted Friday morning with a representative from incumbent Robert Pittenger campaign present as well as the Rev. Cameron McGill and the Rev. Kincey Barrow, McCrae Dowless, and Pat Melvin. Following the recount, there were no changes in the election results.

Following the completion of the vote canvass on Tuesday,  135 votes separated Pittenger and challenger Mark Harris. Harris requested a recount at the state level on Wednesday.

Following the recount on Friday morning, Bladen County Board of Elections Director Cynthia Shaw said, “Nothing changed.”

The recount only applied to the precincts that are shown as making up the 9th Congressional District, according to Shaw.

The Republican primary race for the newly redrawn 9th Congressional district featured incumbent Pittenger against candidates Todd Johnson and Mark Harris.

In Bladen County, Pittenger received 52 votes, Harris received 196 votes and Johnson received 515 votes.

In the 9th District with all precincts reporting, Pittenger received 9,298, Harris received 9,163, and Johnson received 8,143.

Other counties that make up the 9th Congressional District are scheduled to hold recounts as follows:

*Anson County will hold their Monday, June 20 at 9 a.m.;

*Cumberland County will hold their recount Monday, June 20, at 9 a.m.;

*Mecklenberg County held their recount Friday, June 17, at 9 a.m.;

*Richmond County will hold their recount on Monday, June 20, at 10 a.m.;

*Robeson County will hold their recount on Monday, June 20, at noon;

*Scotland County will hold their recount Monday, June 20, at 10 a.m.;

*Union County will hold their recount on Monday, June 20, at 9 a.m.
