With the threat of winter weather, Bladen County Schools Public Relations Director Valerie Newton said district staff are monitoring the weather forecasts closely, but as of Thursday morning there have been no decisions reached regarding any cancellations or delays.
Newton said she expected any announcements to come later in the day on Thursday and advised parents will receive a telephone call and announcements will also posted on the school district website. She said with the addition of new technology, the school system is now able to send text messages and email messages as well.
Newton said that though no decision has been reached on Thursday morning, district staff have been meeting and have been receiving updates regarding the weather situation and any potential hazards that may result from it. She added there are a couple of meetings planned throughout the day before 5 p.m.
