1. Bladen County Animal Shelter is waiving the adoption fee this week on dogs and cats. You will still be required to pay the $25 dog and $15 cat vaccination fees. The shelter will be closed Wednesday for Veterans Day. The shelter is located at 506 Smith Circle in Elizabethtown. For information, call (910) 862-6918.
2. Clarkton Public Library on North College Street is having a celebration today (Tuesday) to honor its patrons. There will be door prizes, children’s craft and story time, and adult and children’s scavenger hunt, and refreshments. It’s scheduled from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
3. Bladen Community College will have a Veterans Day program on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the school’s auditorium. The public is invited.
